An iconic presentation of the intricate glasswork the house of Chanel is known for, this vintage late 80s necklace is from Collection 25. It is crafted in gold-plated metal, featuring a long chain broken up with diamond-shaped Gripoix beads, and finished with a hanging cross pendant that’s adorned with signature Gripoix poured glass in various colors. Pendant measurements 3.5″X3″.
About Gripoix Glass: First produced by Parisian glass-maker Augustina Gripoix in the late 1800s, the eponymous jewelry style was created by pouring glass into shapes and colors meant to imitate the look of authentic pearls and crystals. Coco Chanel later made this poured glass iconic by replicating Byzantine-style jewelry using the Gripoix glass. Chanel Gripoix jewelry has since become covetable and collectible to followers of the house, as the original vintage pieces become increasingly harder to find.
