A favorite color among collectors, this Vert Olive green Birkin is rendered in Togo leather and accented with Palladium-plated hardware. Includes lock, two keys and clochette.
Making its first appearance in 1997, Togo Calfskin leather is one of the main staples at Hermès. Named after the county of Togo in West Africa, this leather is produced by a robust drumming process to bring out the natural features. Togo leather has a matte appearance with irregular, rounded grains; veining and minor wrinkles which can be extremely pronounced or hidden away which are natural by products of the leather. With a strong resilience, and easily repairable, it will become more supple and softer to the touch over time.
About the Birkin: When Hermes’ own Jean-Louis Dumas sat down next to Jane Birkin on a flight he had no idea he was about to create history. When Jane Birkin discussed her need for a sizeable (yet chic) weekender, Dumas immediately got to work designing the perfect bag for her needs, and in 1984 we were introduced to the Birkin, which would quickly become the most coveted bag in history thanks (in part) to the 48 hours it takes to hand-assemble this exquisite piece as well as the extensive wait list you’ll need to join to purchase one from stores.
